As Indiana COVID numbers go down, high school boys basketball attendance numbers are going up

The biggest high school basketball crowds of the year appear to be arriving in conjunction with one the most anticipated points of the season in Indiana.

As sectionals draw near and more counties across the state achieve a blue status — which means there is "low community spread" for COVID-19, according to the state's website — more sectional hosts are increasing their seating capacity.

At New Castle, where Delta, Hamilton Heights, Jay County, Muncie Burris, New Castle and Yorktown will play, seating will be capped at 50% of the Fieldhouse's capacity. Henry County is yellow on the state's COVID dashboard in terms of its weekly 2-metric score and advisory level.
