GASTON, Ind. — There were going to be tears. Whether Cowan won or lost Saturday night in the sectional final inside Wes-Del's Richard E. Johnson Gymnasium, tears would almost certainly be shed.
As the final 9.8 seconds ticked off the clock and Liberty Christian missed both of its shot attempts that could have both won or tied the game, the buzzer sounded.
A few cheers quickly turned into many and pandemonium ensued as Cowan celebrated its 55-53 victory over Liberty Christian. Then, the "All for Ingles" chants started from the Blackhawks' student section.
The tears, though they were happy this time, began to flow.
