YORKTOWN, Ind. — There are always some nerves during the first game of the season. This was different. After all, Yorktown hadn't played a varsity softball game in 661 days before it took the field Wednesday afternoon.
In the top of the first inning, those nerves were evident as the young Tigers' infield made a couple of errors and Lapel — which already had played four games — batted around the order, smashed a three-run home run and went up 7-0 before the Yorktown even got a chance to hit.
