MUNCIE, Ind. — It’s been a while, half a century, actually, since Jerry Peirson coached at Cowan.
Working at Cowan as an athletic director, baseball and boys basketball coach and teacher was the 1962 Royerton High School graduate’s first job out of college. And he spent just two years there before he began a coaching career at Miami (Ohio), where he played in college and would spend 15 years as an assistant before he led the men’s program from 1984-90. But those two years wouldn’t represent the final chapter in Peirson’s time in Delaware County or East Central Indiana.
