3 storylines to watch as BSU soccer’s season kicks off

MUNCIE, Ind. — Ball State soccer coach Josh Rife knows his team won’t be competing as normal this season, given the pandemic pushed his sport into a spring season, but with it starting Thursday he’s grateful for the opportunity to play.

Rife led the Cardinals to a 15-5 record last season and second-place finish in the Mid-American Conference ahead of the conference tournament. And now, after all the work that’s been done to enable this spring season to occur, BSU is set to kick off Thursday against Toledo.

How Rife would describe being in year two of his time with the program is, that there’s more of a complete understanding with the players with what he’s trying to accomplish on the field.
