MUNCIE, Ind. — IHSAA softball sectional tournaments began on Monday, and several East Central Indiana teams advanced past the first round.
Cowan, Daleville, Yorktown, New Castle and Wapahani each won their first-round contests, with the Blackhawks earning a spot in the Daleville sectional championship following their Tuesday semifinal victory over Wes-Del.
There were some terrific performances and crushing losses, so here's a look at the status of each sectional bracket thus far:
Class 3A Sectional 24 (at Delta)
Yorktown 2, Hamilton Heights 0
SCAI 3A No. 3 Yorktown (22-3) on Tuesday opened sectional play at Delta with a 2-0 victory over Hamilton Heights, largely due to star senior Alanah Jones' no-hitter in the circle.
