MUNCIE, Ind. — Sixteen East Central Indiana wrestlers from two semistate sites on Saturday qualified for the IHSAA state tournament.
The number of advancing area wrestlers increased for the third straight year. Two years ago, only seven ECI wrestlers competed in the state finals, and last season saw 12 kids punch their ticket.
Delta and Jay County led the ECI area with four wrestlers each advancing to the state finals, followed by New Castle with three, Cowan with two, and Monroe Central, Muncie Central, and Yorktown each with one.
