Williams family stepping down from its F1 team

The Williams family will relinquish all leadership of its eponymous Formula One team after this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.

Frank Williams is in his 51st year as team principal of the team he founded, although his role has been ceremonial since passing control over to his daughter in 2013. Claire Williams has operated as deputy principal in that time -- she will leave that role after the race at Monza on Sunday.

Last month, Williams secured its long-term future with a sale to private investment firm Dorilton Capital. Williams insisted the leadership of the team would remain unchanged ahead of last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix.
