Walkinshaw: Bathurst win will save season

Six-time Supercars champions Walkinshaw Andretti United admits its title hopes are over ahead of the season's halfway mark at this weekend's Darwin Triple Crown.

Team drivers James Courtney (14th) and Scott Pye (16th) have endured disappointing 2019 campaigns and team boss Ryan Walkinshaw concedes their championship tilt is done.

But Walkinshaw said they'd turn their attention to the three big enduro events and could salvage their season by winning an eighth Bathurst title.

"For us, the priority is going to be working towards the enduro campaign where we're traditionally pretty strong," Walkinshaw told AAP.

"Bathurst is always the most-important race of the season, to be honest, and you can kind of not worry about not winning a championship when you win Bathurst, so that's going to be our priority.
