Valtteri Bottas secured pole position at the Brazilian Grand Prix after newly-crowned world champion Lewis Hamilton crashed out in the first session of qualifying.
Bottas took pole position by 0.038s from Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel, who failed to improve on his final run in Q3 as Bottas hooked also secured a new track record at Interlagos. Kimi Raikkonen took third on the grid ahead of Max Verstappen's Red Bull in fourth.
Once grid penalties for engine changes are factored in, Hamilton will start 17th on Sunday's grid.
