Mercedes boss Toto Wolff believes his team had a 90 percent chance of winning the Bahrain Grand Prix in the closing stages but still let victory slip through its fingers.
Sebastian Vettel's lead came under threat in the second half of the race, when Mercedes fitted medium tyres to both Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton in a bid to go to the end of the race with just one stop. It was assumed that Ferrari would then have to sacrifice track position when Vettel made his second pit stop, having taken on soft tyres at the end of his first stint.
