Massive fire damages ThorSport Racing facility

ThorSport Racing might not know until tomorrow how bad the damage is from a massive fire that began in its basement and destroyed the fabrication shop at the Sandusky, Ohio, facility.

The winners of the 2013 and 2014 Camping World Truck Series championship with driver Matt Crafton, ThorSport expects to be able to field all four of its trucks this weekend at Iowa Speedway for drivers Crafton (the current series points leader), Ben Rhodes, Rico Abreu and Cameron Hayley.

A team spokesman confirmed the fire started shortly after midnight and as of mid-afternoon Monday, firefighters were continuing to work the scene, demolishing the back part of the 100,000-square-foot building where the fabrication shop was located because of hot spots that continue to break out.
