SILVERSTONE -- Lewis Hamilton turned in a stunning lap to beat the Ferrari drivers to the quickest time in qualifying for the British Grand Prix by 0.5s, though he could well lose pole position in the stewards' room.
Hamilton's 1:26.600 saw him consolidate the provisional pole position he had already taken early in the session. However, it was between runs that he gained the attention of the race director, apparently impeding an irate Romain Grosjean as the Haas driver approached the final sequence of corners on a flying lap of his own. Hamilton's lap time put him ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, who surprisingly out-qualified teammate Sebastian Vettel, while Valtteri Bottas, who is set to receive a five-place grid penalty, finished fourth.
