WATCH: This Former Auburn TE's Friendship With A 11-Year Old Cancer Patient Was Simply Inspiring

The late Philip Lutzenkirchen set school scoring records for Auburn football during his stint with the program from 2009-2012, and he was also one heck of a person to boot.

When Lutzenkirchen learned of a 11-year-old cancer patient named Bailey Moody from his hometown of Atlanta who had been diagnosed with bone cancer, he stepped in and struck up one of the more beautifully inspiring friendships we've ever been privy to.

The above video is a tearjerker in the best way and emblematic of the spirit of community and service that runs deep with the Auburn Tigers.

"Football is football," Lutzenkirchen said at the time. "At some point its going to end for me. I'd much rather be known for what I've done off of the field and impacting peoples lives than how many touchdowns or catches I've had."

Lutzenkirchen passed away in June of 2014 as result of a car accident just outside of LaGrange, Ga., but his presence is still felt among Auburn fans and alumni throughout the nation. We miss you, Philip.
