When Auburn Equestrian went to sudden death against rival Georgia at the 2013 National Championship, tension mounted in the Heart of Texas Fairgrounds.
But freshman rider Elizabeth Benson didn’t flinch.
Benson was one of three Auburn freshmen to ride for a ring against their biggest rival on what became a historic day for an elite equestrian program on the rise. Auburn won the National Championship for the third time in program history that night.
Former equestrian athletes remember Benson getting quiet before she rode the flats and jumped fences, the two events on the “Hunt Seat” (English) side.
