Expectations for this Auburn team were a little higher and with the freshmen class assembled, it brought some excitement for the new season. This would be serve as the Auburn debut for Jared Harper, Mustapha Heron, Danjel Purifoy and Anfernee McLemore along with grad transfers Ronnie Johnson and LaRon Smith. 3 of the Tigers starters for opening night were freshmen (Harper, Heron and Purifoy).
Bryce Brown would get his sophomore season off to a good start leading the Tigers with 19 points including 5 made 3-pointers. Each of the starting freshmen scored in double figures in their debuts with Purifoy scoring 14 while Heron & Harper each added 10 points.
