AUBURN, Ala. – Senior safety Stephen Roberts believes Auburn’s secondary could be the best in college football in 2017.
Roberts, who is entering his second season as a starter, was asked about the Tigers’ secondary following the team’s second practice of preseason camp.
“We can be the best in the country,” he said. “I really believe that.”
He is one of three returning starters in the secondary for coordinator Kevin Steele, joining senior safety Tray Matthews and junior cornerback Carlton Davis. But the group as a whole played better in the first half of last season than in the final six games, and more consistency is needed.
