Around the world of college football, the SEC is well known as the most elite conference in the nation for its strength of schedules, rivalries, and cut-throat competition. Year in and year out, SEC teams sit at the top of the rankings and make their way to the College Football Playoffs.
With the CFP's expansion last year, teams that wouldn't typically get the opportunity to make a run for a championship were thrown in the mix like SMU and Arizona State, and both teams had former Auburn football offensive coordinators on their staffs.
But only three SEC teams made the cut in last year's expanded playoff, and for once, Alabama was not one of them.
