AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn junior Ben Schlottman lost 3-and-1 to David Boote in the U.S. Amateur round of 32 at Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., on Thursday.
Schlottman, an Advance, N.C., native, was 1-up through seven holes after winning Nos. 3, 6 and 7 after losing No. 2 and No. 5. Boote squared the match on the eighth and won No. 10 before Schlottman squared it on the par-5 12th with a birdie.
Boote then won with pars at No. 14 and No. 16 and a birdie at the par 3 17th.
