AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn freshmen Mustapha Heron and Danjel Purifoy continued their quick start to the season, combining for 40 points and 18 rebounds, and helping Auburn run past pesky Eastern Kentucky 85-64 Thursday night in Auburn Arena.
Heron was 8-for-8 from the floor and scored 24 points and had 10 rebounds. Purifoy added 16 points and eight rebounds.
The Tigers improved to 3-0 before heading off to Mexico for the Cancun Classic next week.
Auburn hit five of seven shots during a second-half run to finally get some breathing room, at 55-48 with 11:09 remaining.
