There was a slim possibility that Auburn might be invited to the Liberty Bowl. But as expected Auburn accepted an invitation Sunday to play in the Birmingham Bowl. The Tigers (6-6) are pitted against the University of Memphis (9-3) of the American Athletic Conference.
The Orange and Blue Tigers (6-6) will be playing the Memphis Tigers (9-3) at an old familiar place for Auburn fans – Legion Field. However, Auburn hasn’t played there since the 1998 Iron Bowl.
ESPN will broadcast the game which is scheduled for Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. CT.
