Among the recruiting signees for Maryland football during the early signing period, defensive lineman Byron Cowart's name floated across the Terrapins' football account, and on Wednesday, he officially signed with the Terps as a part of its 2018 class.
Cowart, a former No. 1 recruit nationally, signed with Auburn in the 2015 recruiting cycle and spent two years with the Tigers program. His playing time was limited and he had a tumultuous time at Auburn that included an emergency appendectomy.
Cowart was granted his release from Auburn in September.
