College Football Playoff Committee has much to consider when constructing first rankings

Alabama’s a given at No. 1.

Georgia should be No. 2.

Who else should be in the top 4 of the first College Football Playoff poll of the 2017 season ESPN will release Tuesday evening? If I was on the selection committee, here’s how my top 10 would look.

1. Alabama (8-0)
2. Georgia (8-0)
3. Notre Dame (7-1)
4. Wisconsin (8-0)
5. Oklahoma (7-1)
6. Ohio State (7-1)
7. Penn State (7-1)
8. TCU (7-1)
9. Clemson (7-1)
10. Miami (7-0)

FYI: The top team in the first CFP poll in each of the previous three seasons (Mississippi State in 2014, Clemson in 2015 and Alabama in 2016) hasn’t won a national championship.
