On Sunday during his weekly meeting with the media, the Washington head coach compared Auburn to (gasp!) Alabama.
“I look at Auburn on defense and it’s seems very Alabama-ish to me,” Petersen said. “It’s that physical style, that really athletic. … They don’t give you anything, you have to earn everything. Fast. All those things. That seems really similar.”
Now, before you go thinking “How dare someone compare our team to that team?” take a step back for a minute and consider a few things:
- Petersen was asked how Auburn compares to the teams Washington faced in the College Football Playoff in 2016 (loss to Alabama) and last season in the Fiesta Bowl (loss to Penn State).
