AUBURN, Ala. -- Auburn senior Austin Golson is one of 63 college centers named to the 2017 Rimington Trophy preseason watch list Monday, one of eight SEC centers on the list.
Golson, a 6-5, 312-lb. senior, has started 24 games for Auburn since transferring from Ole Miss. The Prattville, Ala., product is a graduate student in the College of Education and a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
The Rimington Trophy is awarded to college football’s most outstanding center each year within the NCAA Division I-A. The trophy was created to highlight the position, as center was the only position that did not receive an award at the end of each season.
