Auburn’s ‘great opportunity’ vs. Georgia also a referendum of sorts on Gus Malzahn

It’s true: If Auburn beats Georgia on Saturday, beats Alabama in the Iron Bowl, then beats the Bulldogs a second time in the SEC championship game, the Tigers almost certainly would make the four-team playoff field as a two-loss team.

But is there anyone outside of that program who honestly believes Gus Malzahn and his team are going to do that over the next four weeks?

Probably not.

Still, Auburn (7-2 overall, 5-1 in the SEC) and Georgia (9-0, 6-0) match up better than you might think. And “The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry” is on the Plains this season.
