Auburn will have one less running back on its roster this season after incoming freshman Alaric Williams announced via Twitter that he would not qualify academically.

Williams, from Southside (Ala.) High, instead will attend Garden City (Kan.) Community College.
Auburn also signed running back Devan Barrett in the 2017 recruiting class, but neither needed to make an immediate impact because of the Tigers’ returning depth at the position.
247Sports.com reports that Williams is just the third Auburn signee during the Gus Malzahn era not to qualify.
