Auburn football: Three bold predictions for game Saturday against Alabama State

The Tigers are coming off a Week 1 21-16 victory against then-No. 6 Washington in which there were multiple encouraging developments:

  • The defense as good, as advertised. Auburn sacked Washington QB Jake Browning five times and were especially stingy in the red zone.
  • Jarrett Stidham was accurate, threw for 273 yards and didn’t turn the ball over.
  • Special teams, for the most part, were solid with Ryan Davis providing a big punt return and Anders Carlson hitting a 53-yard field goal.
  • The offensive line protected Stidham pretty well and while Auburn didn’t run the ball as well as it would have liked (140 yards), it was an admirable effort in Week 1 with a revamped line going against a veteran, talented defense.
