With names like Carlton Davis and Tray Matthews leaving Auburn’s roster, they’ve become the focus of offseason departures in the Tigers’ secondary. While Davis and Matthews had solid seasons, Stephen Roberts was a key fixture in Auburn’s defense.
Roberts was able to have consistent production in the middle of Auburn’s stout defense. Being effective in both pass defense and stopping the run, he was a vital part of what Kevin Steele’s unit brought to the field during the 2017 season.
What stood out most about Roberts and his skill set was his consistent ability to bring down ball carriers in space.
