Carlito Gonzalez signed with Auburn in February, but he won’t be a member of the Tigers’ roster this season.
Auburn coach Gus Malzahn told reporters Monday after the team’s first fall practice that Gonzalez did not qualify academically and will instead enroll at a junior college as a result.
Malzahn said at SEC Media Days that Gonzalez had a class to finish but was expected to have it completed in time for the start of fall camp so that he could enroll.
Gonzalez, according to 247Sports Composite, was a three-star prospect listed at safety in the 2017 recruiting cycle.
