Owen Pappoe had the well earned nickname of “The Freak” in high school. He eliminated any doubts that the nickname embodied his skillset when he put up the highest SPARQ score ever recorded at an Opening event two springs ago. That record lasted exactly one year. Auburn’s newest signee, 4* LB Wesley Steiner, broke Pappoe’s number this past summer at The Opening.
There are some serious athletes in Auburn’s linebacker corps right now folks.
Steiner’s recruitment was one that picked up in a hurry this past spring. Stanford was seen as the favorite early in his recruitment and given Auburn’s past failures going up against the PAC-12 program, it was understandable for Auburn folks to be leery of the Tigers’ ability to land the nation’s #5 athlete.
