Halftime Quick Hitters: Auburn Steamrolling LSU, Leads 31-7 After Two

An absolutely wild day in college football is only getting wilder.

#3 Alabama, #4 Oklahoma and #6 Texas A&M have already lost (we'll throw in #2 Oregon's loss on Thursday just to be thorough), and these two squads came in determined not to join the list...although through two quarters, only one team played like it.

The LSU Tigers showed little faith in QB Brandon Harris (starting in place of Anthony Jennings, who was benched after starting 2/5 with two interceptions against New Mexico State), and with the emphasis firmly on the ground game, only freshman Leonard Fournette was able to make inroads against Auburn's commanding front seven.

The Tigers, however, had no problem putting points on the board - they went up 17-0 midway through the first quarter, and with QB Nick Marshall running the show, they've been impressive throughout.

Biggest Play: While there are plenty of candidates to choose from, we're giving the nod to Nick Marshall's 56-yard touchdown strike to Sammie Coates. The score set the tone for the Tigers, and it was vital for them to get Coates - who had been shockingly quiet so far this season - involved early.

Biggest Surprise: We knew LSU would favor the run to keep the pressure low on Brandon Harris...but we didn't expect just three completed passes in the first half. Harris only had three attempts until late in the half, and the lack of success through the air doesn't bode well for the second half as LSU tries to erase a 24-point deficit.

Auburn Key Player: While Sammie Coates gets major props for his huge first-half performance (three catches for 123 yards and a TD), we have to give it up for QB Nick Marshall. Marshall was everywhere in the first half, completing 12/16 passes for 182 yards and 2 TDs, but also rushing 10 times for 81 yards and 2 TDs on the ground.

LSU Key Player: Can we give this to the band? If we have to pick, we'll give it to Leonard Fournette, who picked up 30 yards on 5 carries.

Who Has The Edge? This might shock you, but we're gonna have to go with Auburn.
