Auburn Football News: University To Replace Toomer's Corner Trees

The Auburn Tigers' fan base will once again have the opportunity to gather around the famous Toomer's Corner trees (and TP them).

The university has approved a plan to replace the trees that were infamously poisoned a couple of years ago by an attention-seeking Alabama Crimson Tide fan to remain nameless.

“Our goal all along was to restore the corner with large trees at the earliest opportunity,” Dan King, assistant vice president for Facilities Management, said via Al.com). “Last summer we completed the hardscape to improve aesthetics and the pedestrian experience. The only thing missing was the trees. We think this plan honors the tradition of the historic original oaks.”

The trees to be planted are actual offspring of the original Auburn oaks, thus maintaining the spirit of the original scene. In addition, some 30 live oak trees are scheduled to be planted along a new brick walkway connecting Samford Hall to Toomer's Corner.
