Auburn Football News: Analysis Of Thursday's 20-14 Win Over Kansas State

In this Auburn football news and rumors update, QB Nick Marshall threw two touchdown passes, the Auburn Tigers' defense forced three turnovers, and the #5 Tigers beat the #20 Kansas State Wildcats 20-14 on Thursday night.

Auburn was the highest-ranked team to visit the Wildcats in Manhattan since #2 Penn State in 1969, and Kansas State's nerves over the national showcase game surfaced quickly.

Kansas State's first turnover was a fumble deep in their territory that basically handed 3 points to Auburn right off the bat. Even though the Tigers didn't play their best game (by far), miscues like this kept the Wildcats at arm's length as Auburn staved off K-State's upset bid.

Also of note are three missed field goals by Kansas State kicker Jack Cantele - nine crucial points that the Auburn Tigers didn't have to make up thanks to a rough night for the Wildcats junior.

All in all, the Auburn Tigers escaped with the win on Thursday. But, it was the Kansas State Wildcats who opened the door.
