We have been contacted by a source with ties to the Auburn coaching search and can say that the candidate short list has been trimmed to candidates that the school realistically
believes they can land. As of 4:30pm ET Monday, the below is the list, in order, of potential Auburn football head coaching candidates:
1. Gus Malzahn: Head Coach, Arkansas State
2. Gary Patterson: Head Coach, TCU
3. Bill O'Brien: Head Coach, Penn State
3. Larry Fedora: Head Coach, North Carolina
4. Bobby Petrino: former Head Coach, Arkansas
5. Charlie Strong: Head Coach, Louisville
Two more who might get a look....
6. Kirby Smart: Defensive Coordinator, Alabama
7. Butch Davis: former Head Coach, Miami, UNC
