NYCFC knocked the Five Stripes out of the first round of the playoffs on Sunday to advance and take on Supporters Shield winner New England Revolution in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Meanwhile, Atlanta United is going home.
This match was about as demoralizing as it gets from Atlanta’s point of view. The Five Stripes put up a fight throughout most of the first half and even looked like the more dangerous side at certain points, though that means nothing if you don’t capitalize on that momentum and make it count for something.
