Fulton County elections board hopes new plan will avert past castrophe

The Fulton County elections board on Monday approved 11 new early voting polling sites for run-off elections scheduled for August 11th as part of an effort to avoid the blunders that created long lines in sweltering heat in June.

At a specially called meeting, the board also approved an offer from the Atlanta Hawks to make the team’s home, State Farm Arena, one of the sites.

The arena has a capacity of 21,000 people. Fulton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Robert Pitts said he believed it would be the largest early voting site in the country and would be open to the entire county.
