Despite stellar play, Hawks’ Young snubbed as Player of the Week

Despite averaging 35 points, 10 assists and five rebounds, the Hawks’ Trae Young was not named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Player of the Week for Feb. 25-March 3. The award went to the 76ers’ Ben Simmons, who averaged 17 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists.

The NBA announced the weekly winners on Monday. The Jazz’s Donovan Mitchell won the award in the Western Conference.

Young was a nominee in the East with the Wizards’ Bradley Beal, the Pistons’ Andre Drummond, the 76ers’ Tobias Harris, the Pistons’ Luke Kennard and the Heat’s Kelly Olynyk.
