For the Atlanta Hawks, the end of this season should be about growth and building toward a brighter future. Last night against the Spurs, those goals seemed to be less in the team’s line of sight.
With under 2 minutes to go, Trae Young was benched in favor of backup point guard Jaylen Adams, who went scoreless on the night. Though Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce can likely defend this move by saying that Young was getting torched on defense all night – which is definitely true – it still seemed like an odd move since the game’s outcome hung in the balance late in the 4th quarter.
