The Atlanta Hawks have been trying to fix their backup point guard position since they traded for Trae Young in the 2018 NBA draft. They have tried numerous solutions with varying levels of success. The problem is that the offense was built around Young trying to create and every reacting to it. Without him on the floor, the offense ground to a halt.

Last offseason they signed Rajon Rondo in an effort to have the two-time NBA champion run the second unit successfully.
