Hawks News Update: Payne, Patterson to play in NBA Summer League

In today's Hawks news update, 2014 Hawks draftees Adreian Payne and Lamar Patterson have stated their intentions to play in the NBA Summer League this year, per Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Jounal-Constitution.

According to Vivlamore, "the status of Walter Tavares is not yet known as there are contract issues to be resolved. They are similar to those of first-round pick Lucas Nogueira last year."

The 7'3" Tavares will most likely remain in Europe for the time being so that he can work both on his game and bulking up his frame to deal with the rigors of the NBA game.

Even if Tavares doesn't come in for the NBA Summer League, getting Payne and Patterson into rhythm could be a huge benefit for the Hawks going forward into the 2014-15 NBA season.

In addition to them, all three of last year's draftees will also compete this summer in this year's tournament.

The NBA Summer League runs from July 11th-22nd. The Hawks are guaranteed to have at least five games over the course of those twelve days.
