With the NFL's supplemental draft looming and the Falcons reportedly showing real interest in Clemson tackle Isaiah Battle, I thought it might be a good time to take a look at a potential snag: That lost fifth round pick.
Going into a year without a full complement of draft picks is never ideal, of course, but a lost fifth round is a relatively light penalty for the Falcons after a rogue employee (or more people than that, my inner conspiracy theorist whispers) piped in crowd noise to home games for parts of two seasons. The problem is that if they are interested in Battle, they'll likely need to surrender a third or fouth round pick to land him, and then they're two picks shy when the actual draft rolls around next April.
