ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Falcons announce agreeing to a contract extension with defensive lineman Courtney Upshaw, a day after ESPN's Adam Schefter reported a three-year, $9 million deal for quarterback Matt Schaub to remain as Matt Ryan's backup.
Terms: Not disclosed.
Grade C+: Re-signing Upshaw is not a major move, by any means, but it could be helpful. Upshaw joined the Falcons last year on a one-year, $1.25 million contract after spending his first four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. During training camp, folks were wondering if Upshaw would even make the team.
