The Atlanta Falcons officially signed Matt Schaub to a new deal a little while ago, and now we know the terms. It’s a two year, $3.78 million pact with $750,000 guaranteed and a team option for 2020, making it just about the most sensible deal he could’ve signed for.
Schaub was making over $4 million per year on his last deal, which stoked fears that this contract would be more of the same. Instead, Schaub’s averaging less than $2 million per season, and the Falcons can cut ties with him in 2020 if Kurt Benkert or another young option on the practice squad develops to the point they feel comfortable doing so.
