Falcons sign QB Matt Schaub to extension

The Atlanta Falcons have officially signed quarterback Matt Schuab to a two-year extension, the team announced Saturday.

The 15-year veteran quarterback joined the Falcons before the 2016 season, after previously being drafted by the team in the third round of the 2004 NFL Draft. Schaub then spent 2007 through 2013 playing for the Houston Texans, where he still holds the franchise record for touchdowns (124), passing yards (23,221), and completions (1,951).

The extension is for two years, and should likely be viewed as a safety net for Matt Ryan.
