Devin Hester placed on short-term IR, Falcons sign three

This is worrying, as Hester was expected to be back by now when he initially got the injury. It’s clearly been determined that we can’t expect him back soon, so they have opted to free up the spot and put him on short-term IR.

The 32-year-old is still one of the league’s top return men, so this hurts the Falcons. With Hester out, Atlanta has signed safety Charles Godfrey and tight end Tony Moeaki, and released tight end Mickey Shuler.

Let’s hope the Hester injury isn’t more serious than we once thought. At his age, the concern is that he may not be able to get back to his best and it could linger with him for the rest of the career.
