The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Angels met Tuesday evening in a series filled with some of the game’s biggest stars and they did not waste time to provide some theatrics.
In the first inning, Shohei Ohtani tagged Yankees starter Jordan Montgomery for a deep fly ball in center field that appeared to be destined for a home run.
Unfortunately, for Ohtani, the six-foot-seven Aaron Judge was manning center field and made a leaping grab to take away what would have likely been a 400-plus foot home run.
Judge is having an MVP season through the first two months mostly due to his power at the plate, but his web gem of Ohtani is a reminder that the Yankees slugger is also a plus defender — and did so playing in center instead of his usual right field.
