THOMASVILLE – Former Thomasville High standout pitcher Hurston Waldrep continues his resurgence in the Atlanta Braves’ starting rotation, leading the struggling Braves to wins in his last two outings.
The most recent came on Sunday against the National League East-leading Philadelphia Phillies. Waldrep pitched 5.2 innings and allowed just four hits, four walks, one run and nine strikeouts. The Braves avoided a sweep by winning 3-1.
That followed an impressive showing against the Miami Marlins on Tuesday, Aug. 26. He scattered eight hits and one walk over 5.1 innings, allowed just one run, as the Braves tallied an 11-2 win.
