This Day in Braves History: June 15

1962 - Hank Aaron and Roberto Clemente both hit grand slams in a wild game between the Braves and Pirates. However, Clemente’s slam is part of a seven-run eighth inning that pushed Pittsburgh to a 9-8 victory. Aaron goes 4-for-5 in the game and drives in five. Mack Jones also homered for the Braves in the loss. Clemente finishes 2-for-3 with a walk and 4 RBIs.

1973 - Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Tommie Aaron becomes the first black manager of a team located in the Deep South.
