1928 – Boston sweeps today’s twin bill with Brooklyn winning the opener, 9 – 2. The Robins collect 13 hits in the loss, but make eight errors. The Braves are paced by George Sisler’s four hits. Bob Smith pitches a two-hitter to win the nightcap.
1935 – Rookie Terry Moore of the Cardinals goes 6 for 6 and the rest of the Cards add another 12 hits to paste the Braves, 15 – 3.
1954 – Hank Aaron goes 4 for 4 in a 9 – 7 triumph over the Cubs, but breaks his ankle in the second game of a doubleheader and is lost for the remainder of the season.
